This is a fake comic book cover I did. Unspeakable Monster Attack!! The word "Unspeakable" was added because I didn't know what to do with that empty area above the word "Monster." I was going for the style of the old Marvel Monster comics that amazing comic artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko drew. I know there's some effects in there like the glow that don't look "vintage" but it's sort of my own version of vintage I guess. I saved jpegs of my progress, so if you scroll down you can see it decomposing before your very eyes. This final version is...
Step Eight. Final with some additional tweaks to the ink and colors plus I added some distressing to make it look more like an old comic book.
Step Seven. Text and some more tweaks.
Step Six. More shading and some glowy special effects.
Step Five. Shading.
Step Four. More colors.
Step Three. Now everything goes digital. The ink drawing is scanned into Photoshop and the first layers of color are painted in.
Step Two. Ink. In this case it's a Uniball Vision Micro. At this point I'm still working with real paper and ink, etc...
Step One. The first drawing in pencil. A real pencil on real paper.
